The collaboration functionality in CA Clarity Core services allows teams to work together on any type of business initiative with participants from around the globe. Using core collaboration services, users can:

  • Resolve issues - CA Clarity facilitates the decision-making process by enabling teams to establish discussion threads to post questions, communicate and resolve issues, and share documents.
  • Manage project events and action items - Team members share a calendar containing project-specific events, milestones and to-dos.

Securely Store, Access and Manage Documents
The document management functionality in CA Clarity Core services allows users to easily store and share documents. Administrators can apply the Precision Security™ features in CA Clarity to secure documents not only by user, group or role, but also by organizational breakdown structure (OBS), ensuring that everyone has access to the documents they need and nothing more. With document management users can:

  • Control Document Versions - Document management includes full check-in/check-out and version control functionality. Users can track who checked out documents and when, can track the history of a document, and can access and manage prior versions of documents.
  • Use Powerful Search Functionality - Users can conduct searches on structured and unstructured data within documents to easily find and use knowledge for their work. Precision Security ensures that the search returns only information the user is authorized to view.
  • Route Documents with Workflow - Automated workflow is essential when virtual teams are spread worldwide. The process automation features in CA Clarity allow users to route documents for review and approval using standard or customized workflows. This functionality reduces cycle time and provides metrics for finding and eliminating bottlenecks.

Utilize Portlets and Dashboards
The Clarity system provides a rich set of portal functionality that enables users to create and use their own custom dashboards. Each of these dashboards is comprised of a set of portlets-small windows of information presented as graphs, tables, or web page snippets-that are built and deployed by power users within the CA Clarity Studio module.

These portlets access information from within the CA Clarity environment, from other databases within the enterprise, and from external sources available in HTML format, such as business news and network status information. Portlets are automatically secured with Precision Security, ensuring users see only the data for which they are authorized.

  • Drill-down from Reports - Users can follow links to navigate to any relevant section or page within a report or to a completely different report.

The role-based personalization function gives users one-click access to every report relevant to them.

Behind the comprehensive reporting and analytics service is the CA Clarity data mart. The data mart provides a consolidated reporting infrastructure for easy creation of reports using data in summary and detail form. As a repository of data extracted and transformed from the CA Clarity transactional database, the data mart is the basis for standard reports and helps report authors create their own multi-dimensional reports based on logical data presented in terms that are familiar to business users.
